From November 11th to 22nd, 2024, two students from each of five Indonesian universities, namely Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, Gadjah Mada University, Sultan Agung Islamic University, Mahasaraswati University of Denpasar and Udayana University (a total of 10 students) visited Japan and participated in the two-week short-term exchange program at the Faculty of Dentistry.

¡¡A wide range of academic and practical activities were carried out in this program. In the seminar, 13 young faculty members from Tokushima University gave lectures on cutting-edge research and topics in the field of dentistry and participants engaged in lively discussions. In addition, a tour of a basic science laboratory provided an opportunity to experience the diverse research activities being carried out at Tokushima University up close and a tour of the Museum of the Human Dissection and Bone provided an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the basics of anatomy and its applications. In addition, a tour of the Dental Clinic at Tokushima University Hospital and visits to Swedish Dental Kokufu and Excel Dental Research Institute provided participants with a practical insight into the field and techniques of Japanese dentistry. These experiences were of great value to the participants in their future career development.

¡¡In addition to academic activities, participants also had the opportunity to deepen their mutual understanding of each other's cultures and ways of thinking through interactions with international students, graduate students and undergraduate students. In the Japanese culture experience program, participants were exposed to traditional culture such as the tea ceremony, calligraphy, and kimono wearing, and also enjoyed the charms of the region by visiting famous sites in Tokushima. These activities were not only meaningful in deepening the bonds among participants but also as part of an international exchange that serves as a bridge between Japan and Indonesia. This program was very fruitful for the participants, contributing not only to improving their academic knowledge but also to promoting intercultural understanding and building an international network.
