On behalf of all our faculty, staff and students at Tokushima University Faculty of Dentistry, I am pleased to welcome you to our faculty and to our website. The Faculty of Dentistry started with the establishment of the School of Dentistry in 1976 as the only dental school in Shikoku Island and 8th national dental school in Japan. Then, in 2007, the School of Oral Health and Welfare was established and became part of our faculty. Approximately 2,050 and 170 students have already graduated from the School of Dentistry Department and the School of Oral Health and Welfare Department in our faculty, respectively. Most of our graduates are playing important roles in the prevention and treatment of oral diseases at various public and private dental and medical facilities in Japan while some are aggressively working as scientists and researchers at university and research institutes and are doing research on medical biology, biomaterials, medical and social epidemiology and so on.

Our mission is to contribute to the improvement and maintain of human health and welfare by promoting the progress of the oral sciences. To accomplish this mission, we are training dental professionals and clinical scientists to gain deeper expertise and skills in areas of health care, social needs and oral problems of the general public. Moreover, we are also boosting and expanding international exchange with various foreign countries and promoting collaborative research projects to contribute towards the prosperity of the world.

Please join us in promoting oral health and oral sciences!
